This is a personal passion project, born from the simple realisation that the most precious time we have is time spent with family. We all carry memories from childhood of days at the seaside. For some, those memories are few, and never quite enough.
The seaside has always been special to me. Some of my favourite memories with my grandparents come from the short holidays we managed to arrange, staying at a friend's place by the coast. Then, as a young man working on a multi-stage summer festival right on the beach, watching the sun rise over the sea after the final night of work brought a feeling I still find hard to put into words. Now, with a family of my own, the seaside holds an even more meaningful place in my life.
My background is in communications, but technology has always been a draw. Having also worked in IT and in tech sales, I wanted to build something myself, so I enrolled in software development courses and earned my certificates in iOS and back-end engineering.
Then, after a family holiday, the idea came to me: an app that could help myself and others make these seaside experiences even better. I started building a searchable database of European beaches rated for water quality, with details on their character (sand, pebbles or rocks), nearby amenities, and whether they are suited for a family day out. The aim is to save you from driving around in search of the right spot, or to help you discover somewhere new with the confidence that it suits you. All while keeping your data yours, and free from ads and distractions.
I hope this app helps you make many, many memories for years to come.
